Wings of Fire: The Flames of Hope

“Luna wanted to change the world.”

Luna wanted to fix the world, even if she’s never been certain how. Now, with all of dragon and human-kind at risk, she returns to Pantala on a rescue mission with a team of dragons. Despite her determination to be brave and useful, saving a continent won't be as easy as it sounds.

Luna knows that ‘Facing a great evil’ will take more than the flamesilk she can create. She will fight her way into the abyss where the dark roots that poison her home hide, discover an ancient secret, and unite her fiends, enemies, and her powers. Otherwise, she’ll never get the chance to save the world. Instead, she would have to say goodbye to it forever.

Wings of Fire: The Flames of Hope

The theme of this book is unity and working together.

This book is set in a fictional world where dragons populate two continents- Pyrrha and Pantala. Humans also exist in this world, though most dragons consider them prey. In this book, a group of dragons from each tribe is setting out to help destroy the Breath of Evil, which is a plant controlling the minds of the dragons of Pantala.

The main character is a dragon named Luna, who wound up on Pyrrha after trying to escape the Hivewings. She is a flamsilk, a special type of Silkwing who can create silk that glows and burns like fire. She intended to use her abilities to end the reign of Queen Wasp, a Hivewing tyrant. As the queen ruled both the Hivewings and Silkwings, Luna hoped to free the silkwings from Wasp’s grasp. Unfortunately, Luna has little control over her new powers and wound up in Pyrrha before she had the chance to stop Queen Wasp. She is determined and loyal to her friends and family, and dreams of changing the world for the better.

This book contains mentions of violence and possession.

This book is the fifteenth in the Wings Of Fire series, and is the final installment of the third arc. I was excited to see how this story would be wrapped up. I enjoyed how this book focused more on how Luna viewed the world and its current situation. Despite a seemingly bleak outcome for the dragon world, Luna was optimistic, having the will and belief, about being able to fix it. It was also interesting to learn more about how humans live in this world, how they managed to stay unnoticed, and what they thought of the dragons that surrounded them.  I found the entire concept of this arc, with the introduction of more humans, a mind controlling plant, and more information about the past of this world, to be creative and fascinating, and I’d definitely recommend reading it- after reading the first two arcs, of course. Start with the first book, The Dragonet Prophecy.

People who enjoyed reading this book may also enjoy the Nightsilver Promise, another book featuring dragons. I also recommend the other books in this series. You’ll want to read them in order. Happy reading!
